Sterilization

November 07, 2015

It's important for bottles to be clean. mimijumi bottles are super easy to clean - just toss them in the dishwasher! The wide mouth means you don't need a special brush to clean them, and the simple design (just 3 parts!) makes clean up quick. That being said, sometimes it's good to get them REALLY clean by sterilizing your bottles. Many people use the microwave to sterilize, but with mimijumi you don't want to.

Wondering What's So Special About mimijumi?

February 25, 2015

Wondering what's so special about mimijumi? mimijumi bottles are made from a high quality Swiss nylon; our bottles won't break, will stay clear as glass, and are also free from all of the harmful materials commonly found in plastics - BPA and phthalates. The medical grade silicone nipple has a unique shape and nipple technology that makes bottle feeding as close to breastfeeding as it possibly can be. Textured like the breast, the nipple has a latching technology that allows the baby to control the flow of milk. Not only does this mean parents don't need to be purchasing different flow rate nipples, it also means the mimijumi mimics the feeding relationship a baby would have with a mother's breast.

The Time Facebook Validated Our Work

December 02, 2014

We worked REALLY REALLY hard to make mimijumi bottles mimic the breast as much as possible. Since the company was founded, we've been saying that our bottles are "second only to mom". When we designed the nipple of a mimijumi bottle, we focused on the features that would cause it to act and feel the most like a breast. We made the flow rate non-existent so that the baby would have to work for the milk (just like they do at the breast), we made it a not too hard but not too soft texture, we created a natural, built-in anti-colic system, and we made it shaped to feel like nursing from a breast. We have always maintained that the nipple on a mimijumi bottle would act like a breast, and the similarities in appearance, while there, were mostly just by chance. We hear it all the time, the mimijumi LOOKS like a breast. While not exactly by design, it's also not something we've ever complained or worried about. If the bottle is designed to act like a breast, it only stands to reason that it resemble the breast some as well.

Tutorial: Getting Your Cap to Stick

October 12, 2014

At mimijumi, we are constantly evolving and looking for ways to improve our bottles. We think we've done a pretty good job so far with just about everything... but nobody is perfect. Recently, we surveyed some of our customers and the one complaint we got back was about the cap not staying on securely. We totally agree this is a problem. The original cap design was not so great. We've made some changes to try and make it better, but truthfully it's still not where we'd like it to be. The cap does work as intended... but only if you use it correctly. In our minds, you shouldn't need a tutorial to use the cap correctly, so we're still working on changing the design again to make the cap usage easier and 100% intuitive. However, in the meantime, here's a quick video showing you how to put the cap on your mimijumi and have it stick!
